Focus and Scope

The aim of Alternatives is to publish high quality scholarly research on international political, social, economic and legal issues. The journal publishes two types of articles: “essays” and “articles”. “Essays” are extended opinion pieces on a current topic of major interest, and are succinct with a clear line of argument. “Articles” are traditional scholarly articles. The journal also publishes research notes, book reviews, review essays, notes. Alternatives features a lively exchange of views and therefore publishes critical comments and responses as well. Alternatives aims to provide a major platform for the study of non-western approaches in the discipline. Alternatives is open to any contribution from different “worlds” in the context of breaking down the barriers between the worlds of academia, journalism, government and business. The journal holds the copyright of the articles published and encourages the reproduction of the articles in scholarly journals with proper credit to the journal.
